Sharing with the Women of Mongolia

Beyond the riding lies the true heart of this journey.

Meet nomadic women who preserve traditions passed down through generations. Learn how they produce dairy products, make traditional clothing, raise livestock and adapt to life in some of the world’s most remote regions.

We will meet local artisans and female performers to discover Mongolia’s living heritage — from the craftsmanship of traditional deel clothing to the timeless beauty of Urtiin Duu long-song — while supporting women who preserve these cultural traditions for future generations.

These genuine encounters offer an insight into Mongolia that very few visitors experience.

Every day in Mongolia brings a completely different landscape. From the bustling streets of Ulaanbaatar to the silence of the Gobi Desert, from UNESCO World Heritage valleys to remote nomadic camps, this journey is designed to balance unforgettable riding with meaningful cultural experiences.

Day 1 – Welcome to Mongolia

Arrive in Ulaanbaatar, where our team will welcome you at the airport before transferring you to your hotel.

In the evening, meet your fellow riders over a welcome dinner, followed by a full tour briefing covering the route, riding techniques, local customs and what to expect during the adventure ahead.

      Your Mongolian journey begins here.

Day 2 – Ulaanbaatar to Delger Choir Monastery

Our first riding day eases us into Mongolia’s incredible landscapes.

Leaving the capital behind, we ride towards the impressive Genghis Khan Equestrian Statue before continuing across open countryside towards Delger Choir Monastery.

The scenery gradually changes from paved roads to the first sections of gravel, giving everyone time to settle into the rhythm of riding Mongolia.

      Distance: 330 km

Day 3 – Into the Gobi

      Today, the adventure truly begins.

We leave the main roads behind and head deep into the Gobi region, riding flowing gravel tracks surrounded by spectacular granite formations and endless horizons.

Passing Lowland Rock and the historic ruins of Sum Khukh Burd, we continue towards the peaceful Ongi Monastery, one of Mongolia’s most important religious sites.

This is the Mongolia many riders dream about.

      Distance: 245 km

      Terrain: Mostly off-road.

Day 4 – From Desert to Mountains

Today’s ride showcases Mongolia’s extraordinary diversity.

Leaving the desert behind, we gradually climb towards greener landscapes, crossing rivers, rocky tracks and rolling hills before arriving in Khujirt, famous for its wellness springs.

After several adventurous riding days, it’s the perfect place to relax and recharge.

      Distance: 260 km

Day 5 – Riding Through the UNESCO Orkhon Valley

Today is one of the highlights of the entire expedition.

The Orkhon Valley is considered the cradle of Mongolian civilisation and is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Ride through lush valleys, volcanic landscapes and traditional grazing lands where nomadic families have lived for centuries.

The riding is shorter today, giving us plenty of time to explore and enjoy this remarkable region.

      Distance: 80 km

Day 6 – Rest, Explore and Connect

      Adventure isn’t always about riding.

Today we slow down and immerse ourselves in Mongolia’s rich culture.

Depending on the season, activities may include:

      • Meeting local nomadic families
      • Horse riding
      • Hiking through the valley
      • Visiting local communities
      • Learning about Mongolia’s traditions
      • Simply relaxing and enjoying the peaceful surroundings

This day offers a chance to appreciate the slower rhythm of nomadic life while sharing stories with your fellow riders.

Day 7 – Through Mountain Trails to the Hot Springs

We return to the bikes for another spectacular day of riding across mountain tracks and wide-open landscapes.

Our destination is Tsenkher Hot Springs, where naturally heated mineral waters provide the perfect reward after an exhilarating day in the saddle.

      Distance: 180 km

Day 8 – Karakorum and the Sand Dunes

      Today combines history with adventure.

First, we visit Karakorum, once the capital of the Mongol Empire, before continuing towards the Elsen Tasarkhai sand dunes, often called “Mini Gobi.”

Here, mountains, grasslands and sand dunes meet in one extraordinary landscape.

Those who wish can experience camel riding before enjoying another memorable evening under Mongolia’s immense night sky.

      Distance: 210 km

Day 9 – Returning to Ulaanbaatar

Our final riding day offers one last opportunity to absorb Mongolia’s vast scenery as we make our way back towards the capital.

Although the road eventually returns to civilisation, the feeling of limitless space stays with you long after the journey ends.

In the evening, we celebrate our adventure together over a farewell dinner.

      Distance: 280 km

      Day 10 – Departure

After breakfast, airport transfers are arranged according to your flight schedule.

You leave Mongolia with far more than incredible memories.

      Frequently asked questions

      Do I need off-road experience?

This motorcycle tour is designed for intermediate riders who are comfortable riding both on-road and off-road.

Approximately half of the route follows paved roads, while the remaining 50% consists of gravel tracks, rocky sections, dirt roads and uneven terrain. Although the riding is not technically extreme, the combination of long distances and remote landscapes requires confidence and good motorcycle control.

To fully enjoy this adventure, you should feel comfortable with:

      • Riding on loose gravel
      • Standing on the foot pegs
      • Basic off-road techniques
      • Managing several consecutive riding days
      • Riding for approximately 6–7 hours per day

If you’ve completed one of our Nepal adventures or have previous adventure riding experience, you’ll feel well prepared for Mongolia.

      Can I have another motorcycle?

Should you wish to have a lighter bike, we can offer the Yamaha Serow XT250, one of the most trusted dual-sport motorcycles for technical terrain.

Its manageable weight, forgiving handling and reliability make it an excellent alternative for women who do not have yet the experience or comfort of riding a bigger bike.

Combined with professional support, it provides the confidence needed to enjoy every kilometre.

Can I join on my own?

      Absolutely.

Most of our guests travel solo, and many say the friendships they build are one of the highlights of the experience.

      How is the accommodation?

Part of Mongolia’s magic lies in experiencing its traditional way of life.

During the tour we stay in a carefully selected mix of:

      • Comfortable hotels
      • Eco resorts
      • Traditional Mongolian ger camps

Sleeping in a ger (yurt) is an unforgettable cultural experience. Located in spectacular natural settings, these traditional circular homes offer warmth, comfort and an authentic glimpse into Mongolia’s nomadic heritage.

Most ger camps feature shared bathrooms and showers, which are standard in rural Mongolia.

Every accommodation has been chosen for its character, comfort and exceptional location.

Why you should join this woman’s motorcycle tour in Mongolia

Because some journeys are about much more than the destination.

Mongolia offers something rare for adventure riders: the chance to truly disconnect from the modern world and reconnect with the pure essence of riding. Here, there are no crowded roads, no traffic jams and no endless distractions. Instead, you follow open landscapes where the terrain becomes your guide and every turn reveals a new perspective.

You will experience the incredible diversity of Mongolia’s wilderness, from the legendary Gobi Desert and volcanic landscapes to forested mountains, rivers and vast open steppes. Along the way, you will discover some of the country’s most iconic places, including:

      • The legendary Gobi Desert
      • The UNESCO-listed Orkhon Valley
      • Karakorum, the ancient capital of the Mongol Empire
      • Historic Buddhist monasteries
      • The unique traditions of Mongolian nomadic culture

But what truly makes this adventure special is the way you experience it.

At FreeW, we believe adventure riding should be empowering, not intimidating. Our women’s motorcycle tours are designed to create a supportive environment where every rider can challenge herself, build confidence and enjoy the journey at her own pace.

With small groups, a female tour leader, an experienced support team and a mechanic always nearby, you can focus on what matters most: riding, exploring and enjoying the adventure.

Many women join our tours on their own.
      They arrive as strangers.
They leave as part of a global sisterhood of riders.

If you have dreamed of experiencing Mongolia on two wheels, of pushing your limits in a safe and supportive environment, and of being part of an adventure that creates a positive impact, this is your invitation.

Join us for an unforgettable women’s motorcycle expedition through Mongolia — where adventure, freedom and purpose meet.
